Picture toh CULT Hai – says ‘Nawabzaade’ actor Deepak Kalra

Deepak Kalra who has been receiving humungous response from all across for his negative comic character in Remo D’souza’s ‘Nawabzaade’ says “Picture toh Cult hai”.

Not only the critics, even the audience is hailing Deepak’s hatke role and comic timing in the film. Especially his dialogue – “Picture ko cult bana do”. The shows are running houseful and especially the Northside crowd are going gaga over the actor.

When asked Deepak, how did he get this unique role, he revealed, “The writer of the film, Pradeep Singh had called me for an audition. Like everyone knows, I don a hip-hop look, so the director looked at me and said ‘How can he do this role? This role comprises of a rural look. It’s a completely desi character.’

I am a guy with a complete swag. So I removed my cap and opened my hairs and asked them ‘Now tell me’.

So the director instantly said ‘Yes this character is now perfect.’

Many people were auditioned for this role. But they wanted something different, like someone whom people have never seen before because for comic roles the same characters are being taken repeatedly.

So, they wanted a fresh face and that’s how I got introduced there and after I opened my hairs, director Jayesh Pradhan said ‘He is the one’. That’s how I got cast.”
