Shor Police duo Clinton Cerejo and Bianca Gomes, debut in Telegu film with Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s Subham Featured Funtainment by Akanksha - May 7, 20250 Following the success of their chart-topping soundtrack for Dhoom Dhaam, award-winning avant-garde music composers Clinton Cerejo and Bianca Gomes—popularly known as the dynamic duo Shor Police, are now gearing up for the highly anticipated release of their Telugu cinema debut with the film Subham, the first production venture by celebrated actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Known for their experimental style and emotionally rich soundscapes, Shor Police have composed the original soundtrack, adding their signature boldness and freshness to the film’s musical narrative. With a collection of five tracks, Shor Police has composed a vibrant album that perfectly captures the energy and mirrors Subham’s narrative arc. The Subham (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) album reflects the film’s quirky horror-comedy tone through an eclectic blend of genres, ranging from R&B grooves and Telugu rap to hip-hop, retro soap-style melodies, and experimental contemporary electronic textures. While the complete album is yet to drop, the lineup already promises variety and punch. The upbeat R&B track ‘Vellipove’, sung by Kunal Ganjawala, features a catchy hook that playfully uses the phrase “go away” in English, cleverly woven into the Telugu lyrics to mirror the villagers’ humorous plea to haunting spirits. ‘Jaagratha’, a rap-heavy number by indie Telugu artists AsurA and Nawab Gang, breaks away from the usual wedding song format with its high-octane energy, creating a striking contrast to its festive setting. The quirky ‘Ayyo Paapam’, a cheeky R&B duet sung by Clinton Cerejo and Bianca Gomes, adds a mischievous, fun tone. ‘Janma Janmala Bandham’, designed as the theme song of a fictional 90s-style TV serial, brings a nostalgic touch and plays a pivotal role in the film’s storyline. The album closes with ‘The Clock Strikes 9’, a modern reinterpretation of the same theme—a moody, electro remix voiced by Bianca Gomes and Zain Boxwala. With Subham’s album, Shor Police ventures into bold new sonic terrain while staying true to their signature musical storytelling, complementing the film’s emotional beats, comedic highs, and eerie undertones with genre fluidity.Speaking about the experience during the making of Subham’s track list, Clinton Cerejo shares, “This is our first venture into the South industry as composers, although we’ve both sung in South films before. What excited us most about the Subham album was the creative freedom to explore an eclectic soundscape—ranging from R&B and rap to nostalgic TV serial vibes. Working with Samantha was a great opportunity, especially since it’s her maiden production. Telugu audiences are incredibly open to diverse genres, and that gave us the chance to step out of our comfort zone and tell this quirky, layered story through music. We really had fun experimenting, and it allowed us to play with musical ideas that we don’t often get to experiment with in traditional film soundtracks.”, Clinton reveals. When asked about the Subham album, the other half of Shor Police, Bianca Gomes, fondly shared, “There’s nothing an artist loves more than being given a blank canvas to work on, and that’s exactly what we got with this film. Right from the very beginning, we had complete creative freedom. When you work with a director or producer for the first time, the creative process naturally takes a little time as you try to understand where they’re coming from. But we were fortunate to find that understanding early on, which helped bring out the best in the music. With film music, it’s so important to stay true to the characters and the mood of the story. Ultimately, it’s about communicating the narrative to the audience, everything needs to come together cohesively. I think that freedom really allowed us to craft a strong musical statement with these songs.”In addition to Subham, Shor Police have yet another Bollywood release in the pipeline — Pune Highway. Slated to release next week following Subham, Pune Highway is a four-track album that continues to showcase Shor Police’s steady and evolving presence in the Bollywood music industry. Featuring a stellar lineup of artists, the soundtrack includes Aali Ga sung by Sunidhi Chauhan, Tu Kaun by Armaan Malik, Chal Chod Na Yaar by Varun Jain, Siddharth Mahadevan & Shashwat Singh, and Main Kaun sung by Yashita Sharma. The album spans diverse moods and vocal textures, blending mainstream appeal with Shor Police’s signature experimental edge.Known for their experimental compositions, Shor Police continues to push creative boundaries in the Indian music industry. With a track record of delivering impactful music across films and independent projects, they’re likely the reason you’ll jump and spill your popcorn as Subham hits theatres worldwide on May 9, 2025. And just a week later, Pune Highway will arrive on screens on May 16, 2025, adding another feather to the duo’s bold musical journey.
