After creating a strong impact among audiences with their chemistry in ‘Piku’, Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan are reuniting on a biopic on ‘Sapna Didi’, a feared mafia queen of ‘80s Mumbai, Rahima Khan.
The film also brings three stalwarts, Deepika, Irrfan and his frequent collaborator Vishal Bhardwaj, who will be producing the film, together.Bhardwaj’s long-time associate Honey Trehan will helm the crime drama.
While the film was announced as a collaboration between Bhardwaj and Prerna Arora’s KriArj Entertainment, now Bhushan Kumar of T-Series has also joined the duo.
Bhushan Kumar says, “Deepika and Irrfan are great actors. We are very excited with the subject and are proud of associating with KriArj Entertainment and Vishal Bhardwaj Pictures on this film.”
The makers have also confirmed that the film will go on floors early 2018 and will release in October next year.
‘Sapna Didi’ biopic is based on one of the chapters of former investigative journalist-turned-author S Hussain Zaidi’s book ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai.’
