TV actor Gagan Kang and Arjit Lavania met with a fatal accident and died today.

In an unfortunate event, Mahakali: Anth Hi Aarambh Hai actors Gagan Kang and Arjit Lavania were killed in a car accident today. The actors were heading to Mumbai after shooting in Umergaon. Their car, reportedly, crashed into a container on Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway near Palghar Manor town. Along with the actors, Gagan’s assistant was also present in the car. The three are said to have died on the spot, as reported by Indian Express.

Gagan Kang, who rose to fame with Hanuman, played Lord Indra in Mahakali, while Arijit played Nandi. The two had been shooting continuously yesterday and packed up only in the wee hours of Saturday morning. As per information coming in, Gagan was driving the car that crashed into the container.

Co-actor Nikita Sharma told indianexpress.com, “We are yet to come to terms with the fact that they are no more. Just a few hours back we shot together and suddenly this news came this morning soon after they left. Gagan’s mother had been really unwell and I hope God gives them strength to overcome the loss. We are too numb to even react at the moment.”

A lot of historical and mythological shows need a huge space to erect their sets and thus step out of Mumbai to Palghar side. A lot of actors travel to and fro to shoot, and with hectic schedules and less sleep, the risk doubles up when they are on road.

As reported by The Times of India, Gagan and Arjit were close friends. Gagan played the role of Hanuman’s father Kesari on Sony Entertainment Television’s show Kesari. Gagan and Arjit were seen in Colors’ TV show Mahakali. Gagan plays the role of God Indra, while Arjit played the character of Nandi on the mythological saga.

At around 11.15 am, when the car was on the Chillar Phata, near Hotel Mountain on the highway at Manor, Kang lost control of his vehicle. He went and crashed into the rear end of a stationery trailer parked alongside the road.

Eye-witnesses said that such was the impact of the crash that the car roof smashed into the trailer before turning reverse. When the car came to a halt it was facing towards Gujarat. The victims were killed on the spot. Police said that the driver of the trailer was detained but it has emerged that the trailer was correctly parked on the siding of the road. Police said that Kang was found dead on the driver’s seat. Beer cans and snacks were found on the front and rear seats. Police said that the driver was over speeding as per the indications displayed on the car. Police said that they have not ruled out the possibility of drunken driving as beer cans were found in the vehicle, reported by Times of India.

Police said that they are awaiting autopsy report to determine if the driver was drunk. A case of accidental death has been registered. Police said that the cellphones of the victims were smashed in the accident. It took them a while to get hold of Kang’s SIM card, following which his mother and brother were informed.
