New Cultural Collective ‘Echoes of the Hills’ to Debut Thriller Play in Guwahati on February 8 BC Exclusive Featured NE News Regional Beat by Akanksha - February 7, 20260 Guwahati’s theatre scene is set to welcome a fresh creative voice as newly formed cultural and charitable collective Echoes of the Hills prepares to stage its debut production, A Wedding To Remember, on February 8. The play will be performed at the Sri Sri Damodaradeva International Auditorium, located within the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra complex in Panjabari. The show is scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm. Described as a thriller set against the backdrop of a wedding, the production weaves together suspense, family drama, and layers of intrigue. The storyline is an original creation and not based on real-life events. Over several months, the narrative has evolved organically through rehearsals and collaborative input from the cast. The play has been conceptualised and directed by theatre director Rathindra Chandra Barua, with the script developed jointly by multiple cast members. The ensemble includes performers from diverse age groups, with several making their stage debut—adding a distinctive energy and freshness to the production. The initiative marks the maiden venture of Echoes of the Hills, a collective formed with the aim of blending cultural expression with charitable initiatives. Notably, the group represents a unique collaboration of alumni from three Shillong-based schools—Loreto Convent, Pinemount, and St Edmund’s—who are now based in Guwahati. Cast member Naomi Agarwala described the collaboration as unprecedented in the region. “This coming together of three alumni groups to form one collective is the first of its kind in the history of the Northeast,” she said. Highlighting the dedication behind the production, Agarwala noted that all those involved—actors, director, and organisers—have committed significant time and effort to bring the show to life. She added that theatre was chosen as the collective’s first initiative to showcase its sincerity, talent, and passion for future cultural and charitable endeavours. “Echoes of the Hills is here to stay. We look forward to the encouragement and support of our dear Guwahatians,” she said, expressing optimism about audience response. Donor passes for the performance will be available through the organisers.
