The festival aims to showcase the richness of Mizo culture through traditional dance, local music, creative installations, and festive activities, while also positioning Mizoram as a major tourism destination in Northeast India. The event is expected to attract visitors from across the country and overseas. A highlight of the celebration will be the Christmas costume parade and carol-singing event on December 23, accompanied by illuminated installations, charity stalls, children’s amusement zones, and an exciting line-up of live performances. This year’s roster includes artists such as DJ Avanie (Mumbai), Naaz (Guwahati), Zehen (Bangalore), as well as popular Northeast hip-hop performers Reble and Kim. Last year, the festival drew nearly 80,000 attendees, including visitors from neighboring states and international tourists—reflecting its growing reputation and tourism impact. New Tourism Events and Destinations Minister Hmar also outlined several parallel tourism initiatives: A New Year’s Eve sunset-viewing event at Sakawrhmuituai Hills, located 21 km from Aizawl, in collaboration with the local council, Young Mizo Association (YMA), and the area development committee. A two-day festival on January 6–7 at Phuaibuang village in Saitual district, an emerging hotspot known for its stunning cherry blossoms. Tourism on the Rise Officials also reported a significant increase in tourist arrivals. Mizoram saw over 5.2 lakh visitors in 2024–25, marking a 139.5% surge from the previous year. This growth has been attributed to improved infrastructure, tourism policy reforms, and enhanced connectivity—particularly the new railway line inaugurated in September.
