Somy Ali left her shining and bright career in Bollywood in 1997 due to a traumatizing relationship. However, in the seven years that she spent in Mumbai, she created memories not just for herself but for her co-stars too and made a bond that continues even today. Fondly remembering one of her treasured co-stars, she recently posted a collage with Govinda on her Instagram handle and revealed that he was always very down-to-earth and very supportive of her.

Her Instagram post read, “There aren’t enough words to describe Chichi’s (Govinda) talent. But I can tell you about his humility: Given we shared the same manager, he made it a point to come and meet me for lunch. I liked to sit on the floor and eat daal/chawal (lentils/rice) in my room watching a movie. When Chichi came to my place and noticed that the house help had served the food in my room on the floor, I advised her to bring it to the dining table, and immediately Chichi said that he preferred to sit on the floor and eat with his hands like I did. I told him I saw ‘Love 86’ when I was a kid on VHS (Google it) and how much I enjoyed his performance. That’s when he told me about all his struggles, and I was in awe of how much one had to go through to achieve their dreams.”

“Chichi taught me the value of never giving up, staying humble no matter what, dreaming big, and how good people can do bad things while bad people can do some really good things,” she added.

She mentioned that he taught her that humanity can be ‘gray’ and wrote, “There is nothing black and white about humans. While it was a lot to take in, that wisdom Chichi poured upon me stuck with me for life.”

“To date, I have the utmost respect for him and will never forget our first encounter. It was literally like having lunch with the professor of life, the greatest superstar, Govinda, then, now, and forever.
