“Actors Need Rest Too”: Kanwar Dhillon on Long Shooting Hours in Television

Udne Ki Aasha actor Kanwar Dhillon recently shared his thoughts on the demanding work schedules in the television industry, calling for a more balanced and sustainable approach to shooting hours.

Recently in an interview, Kanwar expressed that television professionals — both actors and crew — deserve manageable working hours, ideally limited to 8–10 hours per shift. While he acknowledged that certain production deadlines make overnight shoots unavoidable, he emphasized the importance of setting a healthier standard across the industry.

“I haven’t heard of any official change, but I’d love to see standard shifts of 8–10 hours instead of 12 or more,” Kanwar said. “Sometimes episodes need to be delivered overnight, so long hours become unavoidable. But ideally, 9–10 hours should be the standard. It would ensure better productivity and well-being for everyone on set.”

The discussion around working hours has recently reignited after actress Deepika Padukone, who recently embraced motherhood, voiced her support for an 8-hour workday. Her statement sparked a larger conversation within the entertainment community, encouraging television artists to share their experiences and perspectives on the demanding nature of the industry.
