Winners of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne announcers

The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) is an annual Indian film festival based in Melbourne, Australia. It is presented by Film Victoria and the State Government of Victoria, and produced by Mind Blowing Films, a Melbourne-based distributor of Indian cinema across Australia and New Zealand. Award-winning Bollywood actress, Vidya Balan is the ambassador for the Indian Film Festival Melbourne, and has been since its initiation. IFFM is an important fixture in the local arts calendar: permitting a local audience to engage with some of Bollywood’s best. IFFM Awards 2017 to be announced.

 

The event took place on 11th of August in Melbourne and we already witness Bollywood Beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan stealing hearts with her black anakarli in Australia.

Bollywood couch also witnessed popular director Karan Johar walking the Red Carpet among fans and well wishers. Here is the video of his Red Carpet Walk

Karan Johar also took the honour of giving the Diversity Film Award at the IFFM 2017 to Garth Davis for LION.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan turned to be the first Bollywood female actor to hoist the tricolour at the annual ceremony, which is a part of the special segment. We have witnessed Aishwarya with Daniel Andrews (Premiere Chief Minister of Victoria) and Mintu Bhowmick Lange,Director of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.

Apart from Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Karan Johar we also witnessed Lipstick Under My Burkha director Alankrita Shrivastava and Konkona Sen Sharma at the Australian premiere of the film. The film marks the opening night of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2017. Also seen in the picture are Tanishtha Chatterjee and Mitu Bhowmick Lange, director of IFFM.

Dangal and Bahubali 2 stole the show at IFFM 2017 with galore of awards. The list of the winners at Westpac IFFM include

– Best Indie Film : Lipstick Under My Burkha

– Best Director : Nitesh Tiwari  for Dangal
– Equality in Cinema Award: Director/Actor Rahul Bose for Poorna
– Best Actress :  Konkona Sen Sharma for Lipstick Under my Burkha
– Best Actor : Sushant Singh Rajput for Dhoni
– Best Actor (Special Mention) : Raj Kumar Rao for Trapped
– Best Film : Pink
– People’s Choice Award : Dangal & Bahubali 2
– Karan Johar was awarded the Leadership in Cinema Award at this prestigious festival and he presented the IFFM Diversity Award to Garth Davis, director of the Academy nominated film LION.
– Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was awarded with the Westpac IFFM Excellence in Global Cinema award, presented by The Victorian Premier
