Bollywood playback icon Sonu Nigam is set to open his Deewana Tera Tour in Guwahati on December 14, marking the singer’s first standalone live concert in the city. Although he has performed extensively across India and internationally, his only prior appearance in Guwahati was years ago at an award ceremony—an event where he last shared the stage with the late Assamese music legend Zubeen Garg.

A Personal Tribute to Zubeen Garg

Sonu Nigam said that choosing Guwahati as the tour’s starting point carries deep emotional meaning. The city, he shared, is inseparable from his memories of Zubeen Garg, whose passing left a profound void. Nigam recalled being deeply moved by the way Assam united in grief and homage, describing the collective love and respect for Zubeen as unlike anything he had witnessed elsewhere.

He added that his connection with Assam extends beyond his artistic journey, shaped by the warmth, sincerity, and emotional depth of its people.

Northeast India’s Rise as a Music Destination

In recent years, the Northeast—especially Assam and Meghalaya—has emerged as one of India’s most active hubs for live music and cultural festivals.
