After finding a place on the Forbes 30 under 30 list and on the list of the Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada, Indo-Canadian actress Shreya Patel has got yet another reason to celebrate. The actor and filmmaker’s production company Window Dreams Productions Inc., which she founded in 2015, has been selected for the ‘Bell Fund Slate Development Program’, which will be used for the predevelopment of three ½ hour comedy TV series: Layla is Relevant, Queer Guide to Matchmaking, and South Weston.

Shreya calls this success a result of her new collaboration with Rabiya Mansoor. A comedian, writer, actor and producer herself, Rabiya joined the team in 2022 and the two are currently leading the company as Co-CEOs. She added, “Window Dreams Productions Inc. was managed by me until I found Rabiya, whose aspirations and passion for work was similar to mine. And I am very happy that the partnership started well as we received funding from the Bell Fund Slate Development Program that aims to support Canadian media companiesontent creators in creating for and connecting with audiences around the globe.”

Sharing additional great news, Shreya said, “That’s not it! Window Dreams Productions Inc. also got into the prestigious Spark Accelerator Program at the Banff’s World Media Festival, which is hosting its 43rd festival. Additionally, two of our projects joined Netflix’s ‘Diversity of Voices’ initiative, hosted by the Banff World Media Festival.”

Supported by the Government of Canada’s Women Entrepreneurship Strategy, the BANFF Spark Accelerator for Women in the Business of Media offers training, mentorship, and access to potential strategic partners to women entrepreneurs in the screen-based media industry.

“This selection makes us among Canada’s 100 most exciting media companies, which encourages us to continue working hard,” Shreya concluded.
