Guwahati, Assam — Global music star Post Malone is set to perform in Guwahati on Monday, with officials confirming that over 20,000 tickets have already been sold and thousands more fans continue to express interest. The concert is one of the largest international music events ever hosted in Assam, signalling a new era for the state’s cultural landscape.

Chief Minister Highlights Cultural Significance

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma underscored the importance of the event in a post on X, stating:

“Post Malone performing in Guwahati is more than a concert. It’s a milestone in Assam’s rise as a true cultural hub. There was a time when fans flocked to Shillong for rock shows. Today, Guwahati takes centre stage, marking a new beginning for our cultural journey.”

His remarks reflect the state government’s broader goal of positioning Guwahati as a leading destination for national and international live music experiences.

Extensive Coordination for Event Management

To ensure the smooth conduct of the concert, multiple agencies — including the Kamrup (Metro) district administration, Guwahati City Police, the municipal corporation, and other state departments — are working together on logistics, security, crowd management, and venue readiness.

Part of Assam’s New ‘Concert Tourism’ Policy

The Post Malone concert falls under Assam’s new ‘concert tourism’ policy, approved in May 2025. The initiative aims to develop Guwahati, Dibrugarh, and Jorhat as cultural hubs by hosting large-scale music events that attract visitors from across India.

As part of this strategy, the Assam government has partnered with Bigtree Entertainment, the parent company of BookMyShow, to bring high-profile national and international artists to the state.
