Nilanjan Datta

A 2 Times National Award Winner Film Maker, was born in Nagaon, Assam and completed his schooling from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

He completed his graduation in Economics from Pune University in the year 1999. Nilanjan Datta is a graduate of Film & Video editing from India’s premier film School, Film & TV Institute of India, Pune in the year 2004. He has been making short films and actively teaching cinema in various film schools across India, like FTII, Pune, Digital Academy, Mumbai, Government Film School of Rohtak, Haryana, National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad and MIT Institute of Design, Pune.

He was teaching film Editing at his alma mater as Professor of Film Editing till March 2018. Before making ‘The Head Hunter’, his first feature film, Nilanjan has made short fiction films and documentary films. He has also been awarded National Film Award of India for his short documentary film “Bhanga Gara” in the year 2009 by the Government of India.

Nilanjan Datta’s first feature film titled ‘The Head Hunter’ made recently has been Awarded National Award in the year 2016 and also showcased at the 46th International film festival of India, Goa in the Indian Panorama Section.

Nilanjan Datta was also Awarded Best Debut Direction Jury in the 25th Aravindan Puruskkaram. The film has also been showcased in various Indian and International Film festival.
