Nagaland Launches 8th MykiFest to Celebrate Women’s Skills, Entrepreneurship and Creativity

The 8th edition of MykiFest officially began today at the Directorate of Women Resource Development in Kohima. Spearheaded by the Nagaland Department of Women Resource Development and held alongside the Hornbill Festival, the annual initiative aims to recognise, promote and celebrate the skills, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of women across the state.

A Platform for Women’s Empowerment

Speaking at the inaugural programme, Zhothisa Dawhuo, IAS, Secretary of the Department of Women Resource Development, highlighted that MykiFest provides a crucial platform for women to showcase their talents and strengthen their economic independence.

He reaffirmed the department’s commitment to uplifting women by breaking social and economic barriers, and emphasised the importance of sustained support, visibility and opportunity for women-led enterprises across Nagaland.

As part of the wider Hornbill Festival celebrations, MykiFest continues to serve as a meaningful space for acknowledging women’s contributions to local culture, livelihoods and community development.
