Many societies rejected me just because I have pets: Actor Worship Khanna speaks about his pets Diva and Simba

Worship Khanna speaks about his pets Diva and Simba

Actor Worship Khanna, who is currently seen in Pati Brahmachari, has two adorable dogs named Diva and Simba. His life revolves around them and understandably they have a significant place in his heart. ”They are my first pets. My dog Diva is 6.5 years old and Simba is a little younger. Every moment spent with them is special for me. I believe in unconditional love. If there’s any place I’ve felt it for real, it’s either with my mom or my pets. They love me without any expectations, without any conditions. If you really want to experience pure, unconditional love, you must adopt a pet. My favorite thing to do with Diva is sleeping because she won’t sleep until I cuddle her. She sleeps exactly like a human under a blanket, right beside me, on my shoulder, the entire night. Simba has started copying her. The moment I lie down on the bed, whether it’s 10 PM or 3 in the morning, Simba comes and sits on my chest, just to show his love. I don’t know exactly what he does in those 15 minutes, but he needs that time with me before he goes to sleep. Honestly, I feel restless if Diva doesn’t cuddle up next to me or if Simba doesn’t come to rest on my chest. I can’t sleep without them. It has become a habit.”

So how has your life changed after them? Worship explains, ”My life has changed completely. I now feel like a parent; a responsible one. I have a reason to come back home every day. I stay alone in Mumbai; there’s no family here; no one waiting for me  except them. No matter where I go for  a party, a shoot, a late-night event , I always make sure I come back home. Because in the back of my mind, I know my babies are waiting for me. They won’t sleep until I return. The feeling  that someone is waiting for you at home is just beautiful. Their presence brought about a lovely change in my life.”

When asked about his concerns as a pet parent in India Worship says,”When I tried finding a rented flat for myself, many societies rejected me just because I have pets. they are like “You have a dog? Then sorry, you can’t live here.” I find it extremely unfair. These rules and policies shouldn’t exist. Our pets are our responsibility. We take care of them, we clean up after them, we ensure they don’t cause trouble. If I’ve brought a dog into my life, I will obviously take care of everything. But banning them from housing societies isn’t right. They are family. Honestly, I feel like a father to Diva. I raised her like a real child. I’ve fed her Cerelac mixed in bottles, When she was a baby and slept lightly, I’d turn my phone on silent, turn off the doorbell, so her sleep wouldn’t be disturbed. I’ve taken her to the doctor when she was sick, made sure her vaccinations were on time  – everything a parent does. That fatherly feeling, that sense of responsibility, brings me so much joy. I’m loving every bit of this journey.”
Worship has a dream of doing something nice for the animals in the future. He adds,”Whenever I become successful and financially strong enough, I will open a pet shelter a place where lots of animals can live happily, get proper food, care, and medical treatment. And honestly, I want to spend the rest of my life with dogs  with these innocent souls who love selflessly.”
