From a Small Town to the Silver Screen: Surjasikha Das’s Inspiring Journey of Dreams, Struggles, and Success in Bollywood

Surjasikha Das's Bollywood Success story

Born and raised in a small town in Assam, Surjasikha Das was a bright student with a deep love for cultural activities and sports. From a young age, she dreamed of becoming an actor, but couldn’t pursue it then because her father was strict, and she knew he wouldn’t approve. Deep down, she promised herself that one day, when she became independent, she would chase her dream—so she’d never have to live with regrets. She resolved that if things didn’t work out, she wouldn’t burden anyone or trouble her family.

She went on to pursue an MBA, but there came a moment when her heart told her it was finally time to follow her passion. She moved to Mumbai—a city full of uncertainty. It was scary and confusing. She knew no one, had no experience in acting, and hadn’t even done theatre. She began exploring the streets of Aram Nagar, MHADA, and Jankidevi after connecting with a few people through Facebook.

Every day, she knocked on the doors of studios, approached strangers on the streets, compiled lists of production houses from Google, and visited them. Sometimes, she wasn’t allowed inside; sometimes, the offices were empty. On one such day, by sheer coincidence, she bumped into Ajay Devgn sir at a dubbing studio and managed to click a picture with him—a moment she’ll always cherish.

From there, her journey turned into a roller coaster ride, filled with struggles and vulnerable moments. She kept herself busy, working as an assistant director to understand the craft and learn what happens behind the camera.

It has been a tough but invaluable journey of learning, growth, and perseverance. Every day of hard work, commitment, and dedication led her to this moment: sharing screen space with Kajol Ma’am, working with a renowned production house, and collaborating with an incredible director.

Today, Surjasikha Das can finally say—it’s a dream come true.
