Assam Aims High: Shakira Could Be Next

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed that the state government is exploring possibilities of bringing global pop icon Shakira to Guwahati in the coming years as part of its long-term cultural tourism strategy.

He shared that preliminary efforts had been made:

“We tried Shakira… we wanted to bring her to Guwahati maybe next year or in two years. There was an opportunity in February, but we let it go,”
the Chief Minister said.

If finalised, this would mark one of the largest international pop concerts ever hosted in Northeast India.

• ~3,000 tickets secured by international attendees
• 5,000 tickets bought by audiences across the Northeastern states
• 5,000 tickets purchased by concertgoers from the rest of India
