Arun Govil, who plays the eponymous role of Lord Ram in the epic serial Ramayan which is right now being telecast every day at 9 am and 9 pm religiously on Doordarshan in order to keep the viewers engaged during the ongoing lockdown period by the government.

Ram aka Arun expressed his happiness at the enormous popularity the serial as well as he himself is getting from all over the country after the retelecast and says that he himself is busy watching the serial every morning as well as the evening on Doordarshan. While being asked on his upcoming projects, Arun informed that he was already in talks with the producers of not just one but for two different web series. He is looking forward to playing very power-packed roles in both of them.
While being questioned on whether he will be able to pick up even challenging negative roles, he said that as he is saddled even today with a pious ‘Lord and positive image’ of Lord Ram even after 37 years of having acted in the serial Ramayan, he would not be in a position to experiment with negative roles even if he wishes to. He would rather prefer to stick to the character with no grey shade.

Many of our readers may not be aware but Arun Govil’s wife Lekha also has acted in films and TV serials. She has acted in Anil Ganguly’s film with Rajesh Khanna and Rekha three decades ago. However, their son, as well as daughter, are not interested in taking up acting at all.

Similar to his reel life character of Lord Rama Arun lives a very simple life and a very down to earth personality. He lives in Seven Bungalows, Andheri West with his wife and kids and looking forward to starting shooting for Web-series post Lockdown.
