Pasighat | December 7 — The East Siang Police have announced the induction of actor, model and entrepreneur Chum Darang as the Child Safety Ambassador for Project Muskaan, giving a significant boost to the district’s child protection and awareness efforts. Widely regarded as one of Arunachal Pradesh’s accomplished young achievers, her involvement is expected to strengthen community outreach and youth engagement across the region.

About Project Muskaan

Launched on 11 November 2025, Project Muskaan is East Siang district’s flagship child-safety initiative aimed at empowering schoolchildren through structured sensitisation programmes. The sessions cover:

• Good Touch–Bad Touch awareness
• Key provisions of the POCSO Act
• Juvenile Justice Act fundamentals
• Anti-bullying education
• Online and cyber safety guidance
• Information on reporting mechanisms and personal safety

The programme is delivered through weekly school visits by trained police personnel, ensuring that students receive age-appropriate, practical guidance. To improve accessibility, Police Complaint Boxes have been installed across district schools, allowing children to seek help confidentially.

Impact So Far

• 69 schools covered
• 8,300+ students sensitised
• 55 schools equipped with Police Complaint Boxes
• Ongoing training and feedback sessions for police teams to improve programme delivery

The initiative has been recognised locally for improving child-safety awareness and fostering a more responsive school ecosystem.
