UN Goodwill Ambassador Dia Mirza Kickstarts Mumbai Climate Week Summit, Introduces Prince William’s The Earthshot Prize with a Special message from him Featured Funtainment by Akanksha - February 18, 20260 Mumbai Climate Week commenced on a significant note as actor, producer and UN Goodwill Ambassador Dia Mirza participated in the inaugural event, joining climate leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs and sustainability advocates from across India and the Global South.As part of the opening day proceedings, Dia Mirza moderated a panel discussion *Rewriting the Climate Future* featuring Rajiv Shah, President at The Rockefeller Foundation, and Mridula Ramesh, founder of the Sundaram Climate Institute. Speaking about the significance of global platforms such as Mumbai Climate Week, Dia shared, “Climate action is no longer a distant policy conversation. It is about the air we breathe, the water we depend on, and the dignity of communities already living with climate impact. Platforms like Mumbai Climate Week create the courage and collaboration we need to turn urgency into accountability and innovation into inclusion.”Later in the day, Dia Mirza introduced the team from The Earthshot Prize, the global environmental award founded by Prince William to accelerate innovative solutions to pressing environmental challenges. The audience was also presented with a special video message from Prince William, underscoring global collaboration and India’s growing leadership in climate innovation. Organised by Project Mumbai in partnership with the Government of Maharashtra and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the three-day summit is hosted at the Jio World Cultural Centre in BKC, focusing on sustainability, renewable energy, electric mobility and climate resilience, with parallel city-wide engagements throughout the week. As one of the world’s most climate-vulnerable megacities, Mumbai’s role in advancing climate resilience is increasingly critical. Mumbai Climate Week marks the beginning of a series of discussions and initiatives focused on strengthening urban sustainability frameworks and scalable climate action.With participation from civic bodies, global foundations, industry leaders and grassroots organisations, Mumbai Climate Week seeks to position the city as a vital hub for climate discourse and action in South Asia.
