In light of this year’s World Environment Day theme, #BeatPlasticPollution, Dia Mirza takes us on a journey with her very dear friend, The Travelling Bottle.

Dia takes to Instagram to share a video of her traveling through the years with the bottle, taking it everywhere she goes, to spread awareness about the dangers of plastic pollution. Sharing her experience during ‘Ganga: The Soul of India’, Dia tells us about the desolate effect of plastic poisoning the water bodies in our country. Driven by the desire to make a difference, Dia committed to refusing the use of single-use plastic, thus coming up with the idea of The Travelling Bottle.

Apart from traveling to such beautiful places with Dia, the bottle shares a larger message: to do our part toward reducing plastic waste. Although a lot has transpired since Dia chose of denying the use of plastic, there is still work that needs to be done. With over 100 countries adopting legislation on plastic bags and introducing rules on single-use plastics, there are still 400 million tonnes of plastic waste being produced every year. So, this is where the bottle helps Dia spread her message, it asks us as well, to chip in, and do our part for the betterment of the world we call home.
