Radisson Blu Guwahati and Sports Authority of India host bicycle rally to mark Health Awareness

In a spirited celebration of health and fitness, cycling enthusiasts on Sunday gathered for the second edition of PedalOzone — a bicycle rally organised by Radisson Blu Guwahati and the Sports Authority of India in collaboration with Radio Mirchi to raise awareness about the many benefits of cycling as a healthy lifestyle choice, an eco-friendly mode of transportation, and a unifying community activity.

The event witnessed spirited participation from cycling enthusiasts, health-conscious individuals, and members of the local community, all pedalling together to promote sustainable living.

The bicycle rally covered a 13-kilometre route and lasted close to two hours. The occasion was marked by high energy, camaraderie, and a shared commitment to positive lifestyle choices.

The event was also graced by Shouvik Chanda, Head and Director of Bureau of Indian Standards.

Ankur Mehrotra, General Manager of Radisson Blu Guwahati, commented on the occasion, “This is the second edition of PedalOzone, and we are honoured to join hands with the Sports Authority of India for this event. Events like these highlight the power of community in embracing wellness and sustainability. Cycling not only promotes health but also represents our commitment to greener urban mobility and environmental stewardship.”
D.K. Mittal, Executive Director – Sports Authority of India, added, “At SAI, we believe in the transformative power of sports to bring people together and inspire change. PedalOzone is a wonderful example of how sporting initiatives can drive awareness, encourage healthy living, and foster a collective spirit of environmental responsibility.”

World Bicycle Day, observed on June 3rd globally, celebrates the bicycle as a simple, reliable, and environment-friendly means of transport. By encouraging cycling, the day advocates for healthier lives, reduced traffic congestion, and a significant drop in carbon emissions—making it a key part of sustainable urban development.
