A team led by Mrs Pooja Sharma attended the 5th Innovative international film festival, Banglore as a Guest of Honour and a speaker with 3 directors from Sikkim.Abhishek Poudyel Chettri’s Stray Dogs bags an award for Best Short Film on Social awareness. Selected Films screened were: Tribeny Rai’s ‘Yathawat’. Angel Tshering’s Film ‘Buwa.’ Abhishek P.Chettri’s ‘Stray Dogs’ Nirmal Bhattarai’s ‘Chotu.’ Hon’ble Minister Dr L. Murugan, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, GOI, graced as the Chief Guest on the closing ceremony and Shri. Apurva Chandra, Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, GOI attended the festival as the Chief Guest on the 3rd Day. Sessions were organized by Government offices of the National Film Development Corporation, the film facilitation office of India & Skill Development Departments for the benefit of young filmmakers.NFDC – Film Facilitation Office Head Shri Vikramjit Roy, Shri Prithul Kumar Joint Secretary MIB, Ravi Kotarakara, President South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, Legendary screenwriter K. Bhagyaraj, Tamil Film Director Karthik Subbaraj, Tamil film Director V. Sekher, Indian Film producer G. Suresh Kumar, Indian film Producer S. R. Prabhu, Upashna Mittal, CEO at Innovative Studios Pvt. Ltd.Bengaluru, and Mr Saravana Prasad CEO, IFA Bengaluru. Dignitaries, consulates and delegates from 40 countries like Austria, Spain, Israel, Canada, Tanzania, Sweden, France, Finland, UAE, Thailand, Indonesia etc were present at the Innovative International Film Festival 2022. IIFF is considered to be one of the most prestigious and significant film festivals in Karnataka. Marking the commencement of the four-day film festival, screening 150 films curated from 40 different countries, spanning a variety of genres in 30 other languages. It received an overwhelming response where 900+ short film entries were received with an audience of 6800+ movie watchers, ex-pats, filmmakers & students. 50 scripts of short films are selected to be made into Films. The main highlight is the short film Contest conducted by IFA in association with TANTIS – Tamil Nadu Film directors’ Association, giving opportunities to 100s of aspiring filmmakers and students. It had the attendance of Leading Producers, directors, Cinematographers, Technicians, Academicians, Students, International participants, Ambassadors, Consul Generals, and Trade & film commissioners. Session tends to encourage the signing of many co-production, networking opportunities and collaboration contracts. Chairperson Pooja Sharma spoke about the vision and prospects of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang Golay Sir and the work the Sikkim Government has undertaken under his leadership to uplift the Film line in Sikkim. She said that it is historic to have Four films from Sikkim to be screened on huge platforms such as 5th IIFF, Banglore. The filmmakers extend gratitude and thankfulness to Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang Sir and Chairperson Mrs Pooja Sharma for giving them this opportunity to showcase their Film on a National Platform. They also thank Hon’ble Minister Shri B.S Panth Sir for quick responses and understanding of the need of the Film fraternity in such a short duration of taking charge of the Office of the Home Minister IPR.
