Fake casting calls are on the rise — stay alert!

Director’s Kut Production issues a strong warning against scammers misusing their name. Protect your dreams, verify every opportunity.

⚠️ SCAM ALERT:
ATTENTION ALL ACTORS, PARTICULARLY THOSE NEW TO THE INDUSTRY OR ACTIVELY SEEKING ROLES:

A serious and dangerous scam targeting actors is currently circulating in the entertainment industry, and we want to make sure you are aware.

A fraudulent individual, who goes by the name is: Piyush 9555677338 / 9406709494 & is operating with a team that includes two women and another accomplice. They are specifically targeting aspiring actors, particularly those who are desperate for opportunities, and sometimes even established actors.

Here’s how it works:

1. Impersonation of Industry Professionals:
This individual and his team contact actors through WhatsApp calls, posing as representatives from major TV shows such as Anupamaa and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. They offer “parallel lead” or “continuity character” roles on these popular shows in order to lure the victim into their trap.

2. Fake Identities & Documents:
The scammer uses a profile picture of Rajan Shahi (a well-known industry figure) and other media content from social platforms to make himself appear credible. This is a deliberate strategy to make the victim believe they are interacting with a legitimate industry professional.

3. Financial Exploitation:
Once the victim is hooked, the fraudster asks for personal documents to prepare a fake agreement. They also demand an upfront payment or fees that range from ₹3 lakh or even more, depending on the victim’s level of urgency or desperation.

4. Targeting Vulnerable Victims:
The scam particularly targets outstation actors / known or semi known actors, who may be more vulnerable due to being away from home and seeking opportunities. These individuals are at a higher risk of being manipulated.

What Can You Do?

• Director’s Kut Production has a dedicated, in-house casting team:
We do not outsource casting to third-party individuals or ask for any kind of payment for roles. All casting decisions are made internally by our official team only.

• Be vigilant: If you receive any unsolicited calls or messages from individuals claiming to offer roles in major TV shows, do not proceed without verifying the legitimacy.

• Report immediately: If you or someone you know has fallen victim to this scam, report it to CINTAA (if you are a member of CINTAA).

• Spread the word: We urge everyone to share this message across your social platforms to help protect innocent actors from falling prey to these fraudsters.

Together, we can make the industry safer for aspiring talent and ensure that scammers do not succeed in exploiting their dreams.
