After Hindi, Gujarati, and Marathi industries, Anand Pandit’s Kannada film ‘Kabzaa’ releases today

Anand Pandit's Kannada film 'Kabzaa'

The period actioner stars Upendra, Kichcha Sudeep and Shriya Saran

Celebrated producer Anand Pandit, often referred to as a Midas Man in the Indian film industry is on a winning streak yet again. With his finger on the pulse of the audience, he has been steadily delivering some of the biggest hits in the Hindi, Marathi, and Gujarati industries. And now Pandit has forayed into South-Indian cinema with a 120-crore epic that traverses the time span between the pre-independence era and the 1980s. The Kannada period actioner, ‘Kabzaa’, starring Upendra, Kichcha Sudeep, and Shriya Saran will be released worldwide today (March 17th) and Pandit is understandably thrilled.

The film depicts how the son of a freedom fighter is drawn into a life of crime and becomes the king of the underworld and Pandit says, “The canvas of the film is massive and its production values, action, cinematography, and music are outstanding, not to mention, the combined star power of the actors and spellbinding direction by Chandru. From the early reports, it is clear that the film is clicking with the audience big time.”

As a veteran producer, film distributor, and industry expert with over 20 years of experience, Pandit understands the business of cinema thoroughly and says, “Good cinema is no longer about catering to one demographic or just one audience pool. Today a film like ‘Kabzaa’ can not only entertain a diverse cross-section of people across the country but also in different parts of the world. This is a period epic with stunning action and larger-than-life characters and I am thrilled that I am making my debut as a producer in Kannada cinema with a film like this.”

Explaining why he is exploring different cinemas, Pandit says, “We are now becoming a synergistic industry and films are becoming multilingual and collaborative. And the audience is opening up to diverse content as well. ‘Kazabaa’ will be yet another resounding hit from the South.”

The film is produced by Anand Pandit Motion Pictures in association with Sri Siddeshwara Enterprise and Alankar Pandian and directed by R. Chandru.
