Actress Urmila Mahanta, who has garnered attention with her acting stints in films like Padman, Manjhi: The Mountain Man, Akira, Beyond The Clouds and several ads is all set to tie the knot with her FTII batchmate R Badree, who is soon to be marking his acting debut with Kabir Khan’s 83’.

Sharing more about her relationship with Badree, Urmila says, “It’s been a decade we know each other. Badree is from South India and the South is very special to me as I started my film career there. I am fortunate to receive much recognition with my very first Tamil film Vazhakku Enn 18/9 and today is the time when I found the love of my life in Chennai itself. I feel extremely blessed to find my life partner in my FTII batchmate itself.”

“We first met in FTII (Film and Television Institute of India) Pune in 2007 and it’s quite an exciting journey for us. We are fortunate to belong to the same field which strengthens our bond much deeper,” she adds.

“It’s a love cum arranged marriage. We are going to tie the knot on 25th April in Chennai. Due to the pandemic, we are keeping it a close family affair, only our close relatives and friends are expected to attend the ceremony. It is going to be a traditional Tamil wedding. Post-wedding, we would be waiting for Badree’s Bollywood debut 83’ helmed by Kabir Khan,” she continues.

While the actress has two big Bollywood ventures in her kitty currently. “I’m eagerly waiting for my next Bollywood release Dial 100 with Manoj Bajpayee which is helmed by Rensil D’silva and produced by Sony Pictures. Secondly, I am playing the main protagonist in Powai, which is selected by Film Bazaar India’s work in progress lab 2020,” she reveals.

Urmila Mahanta has won the 7th Assam State Best Actress Film award sometime back. Besides this, she also bagged Best actress in “Indie Film awards, Tokyo, Japan, Best Emerging actress at Lake City International Film Festival 2019, Best Actor-Female in Patna International Film Festival 2016, Best Actress at Prag Cine Awards North East 2016, Best Artist Award at 1st Sailadhar Baruah Film Awards 2016, Dalmia Young Achiever Award 2017 (Film/Acting) and Youth Of The Year Award 2017 by Needs among many others.
