Actor-Filmmaker Akshay Singh, who is the director and maker of the internationally acclaimed movie Pinky Beauty Parlour and has also created the web series Naam Gum Jayega streaming on Amazon Mx Player, considers Shah Rukh Khan a big inspiration. Filmmaker Akshay Singh believes King Khan, as he is fondly called, has been able to connect to audiences of all age groups not only through his performances but also through his encouraging words, his wisdom and his persona.

Sharing his thoughts on SRK’s birthday on 2nd November, Akshay said, “Shah Rukh Khan isn’t just a superstar; he’s a living masterclass in ambition, risk taking, and of course his dimples! For me, the biggest lesson from his success story is courage. Infact Shah Rukh Khan made us believe that every outsider could be a hero. He didn’t enter Bollywood as just a chocolate boy romantic hero. Nope! He entered by stalking people on screen in Baazigar, Darr, and Anjaam: the kind of roles that would make any hero of that era say, ‘Bhai, yeh toh villain ka part hai!’ But Shah Rukh Khan said, ‘Risk hai toh ishq hai!’ And that risk turned into reward: a brand new superstar was born.”

“SRK is like Wi-Fi, connected to every generation! Kids adore him, youth worship him, and elders bless him… I think his secret is simple: Shah Rukh just keeps evolving, and how! From spreading arms in mustard fields to punching villains in international spy missions, he updates himself faster than software updates on my phone! Akshay Infact feels that it would be great if the superstar would write his autobiography. He said, “I would love to read it. Infact, there are few things that I would so want to know about him: How does SRK manage being an actor, a producer, a businessman, and a cricket team owner, and still find time to be the King of Romance? What’s his daily routine? What does he think when he wakes up each morning? I think Shah Rukh probably wakes up thinking, “Chalo, aaj bhi duniya jeet lete hain.”

Asked if he had to connect with one of Shah Rukh Khan’s roles, he thinks it would be one from SRK’s romantic hero era. Akshay said, “From DDLJ to Kal Ho Na Ho! Those songs became our anthem, and for us teenage boys, SRK was the love guru we secretly tried to copy!” “We all attempted his hairstyle, that eyebrow raise, and that charm. Only difference: He got Kajol, we got rejection letters.”, Akshay laughs.
