President Droupadi Murmu paid an official visit to Senapati district in Manipur, marking a significant milestone for the region’s development efforts. During her visit, the President inaugurated seven key development projects and laid the foundation stones for five additional initiatives, aimed at strengthening local infrastructure and improving public services.

The President arrived at the Taphou Naga Village Ground helipad, where she was received by Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Deputy Commissioner of Senapati Mamoni Doley, Superintendent of Police Senapati Sheikh Mohammad Zaib Zakir, Major General S.S. Kartikeya of the 57 Mountain Division, and representatives of the district’s five tribal communities. Her arrival was marked by a traditional welcome and cultural presentations reflecting the district’s rich and diverse heritage.

As part of her visit, President Murmu also interacted with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Kangpokpi district near the Multi-Purpose Hall at the Mini Secretariat Complex. The interaction took place in the presence of Governor Bhalla, DC Kangpokpi Mahesh Hiralal Chaudhari, and DC Senapati Mamoni Doley, and was covered by the Doordarshan Kendra (DDK) media team.

The visit underscored the Centre’s continued focus on inclusive development, humanitarian engagement, and strengthening governance outreach in Manipur’s hill areas.

A formal programme was later held at the Multi-Purpose Hall, where Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla extended a warm welcome to the President. In his address, he highlighted Senapati’s natural beauty, the vibrant cultural identity of its Naga tribes, and the strong sense of community that defines the hill district. He noted that the President’s visit holds deep significance for the people of the region and reinforces the connection between the hill districts and India’s democratic institutions.
