Director JP Dutta and actress Bindiya Goswami’s daughter Nidhi Dutta will be getting engaged to Binoy Gandhi in Mumbai. The couple will be getting married in December this year.

Binoy Gandhi, who is a director with television shows like ‘Ishq Holiday’ and ‘Oye Jassie’ to his credit. He has also worked as an assistant director in some well-known films like ‘Darna Mana Hai’ (2003), ‘Gayab’ (2004), ‘Fanaa’ (2006) and ‘Ta Ra Rum Pum’ (2007). Nidhi and Binoy, who have been together for five years.

Nidhi has worked as an assistant director to her father in Umrao Jaan (2006), and as a producer in Paltan (2018).

They celebrated their pre-engagement Mehndi with intimate, cozy festivities at the Dutta home in Juhu on 27th of August, 2020.

The formal engagement ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, 29th August and in all likelihood will be an at-home affair. Nidhi and Binoy are yet to announce their wedding date, though sources inform us it could take place any time soon, or even later, in December.

Nidhi revealed the striking similarities between her parents’ love story and hers. “Mom and dad met on a film called Sarhad which was supposed to be dad’s directorial debut and mom was to act in it. The film never saw the light of day, but it turned out to be the reason for their happily ever after. For us, we met through a common friend. Binoy was to direct a film for our company, so it was his directorial debut and I was to act in it. Again, the film never saw the light of the day, but turned out to be the beginning of our happily ever after.” she said in an official statement.

Talking about what Binoy Gandhi means to her, she said, “Binoy is the reason behind my smile. I’ve always tried to be a son to my family, be the responsible one, be the grown-up and somewhere I forgot what it was like to be spoilt and what it was like to have someone to lean on, no matter what. Binoy has been my support system, my happiness quotient and the reason behind my smile for five years now.”

Speaking about his fiancée Binoy Gandhi said, “Nidhi is my universe. She makes me look and feel better in every way possible. If I want to be happy, I call her. If I’m sad about something, I call her. If there’s some script idea, I call her, and if there’s some food to eat, I call her. Basically, my heart beats because of her. She’s my best friend, my guiding angel and most importantly, the love of my life.”

Nidhi said the couple was getting engaged during the COVID-19 pandemic because of the family tradition of holding auspicious events during Ganeshotsav, which is currently on.
