Bollywood’s fittest star Akshay Kumar is in Lucknow today and met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and took part in the state government’s cleanliness drive event.
Akshay Kumar took to Twitter to express his gratitude to his fans and said that he was honoured to be part of the campaign.
The star who is there to promote his upcoming film “Toilet Ek Prem Katha”, was also seen wielding broom with the CM. Adityanath has time to time pitched for making UP clean. In May, he had picked broom to set an example.
Adityanath had earlier said that by December 2017, the government was aiming to declare 30 districts and by October 2018 the entire state open defecation-free. Meanwhile, Kumar is in Lucknow to promote his next film ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ which will be released on August 11.
The film is based on the Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. When the film’s trailer came out, PM Modi had praised it and called the movie a commendable effort to promote cleanliness. Akshay Kumar had said that he would love to hold a special screening for Modi.
‘Toilet- Ek Prem Katha’ is a satire woven with tale of romance. It’s the story of a newly married woman who walks out of her marital home owing to the lack of sanitation facility.
Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pet project – Swachh Bharat Abhiyan , ‘Toilet- Ek Prem Katha’, a film directed by Shree Narayan Singh, is slated to release on August 11. It also stars Bhumi Pednekar, Anupam Kher and Sudhir Pandey in pivotal roles.
Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar are there at an event at a city school also administered an oath of cleanliness to the students, reported by IANS.
After Lucknow, the stars will be going to Agra to promote both cleanliness and the film, a member of the crew told IANS.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already praised the concept of the film. Adityanath on his part has been promoting the Swachh Bharat mission as the chief executive of the state and had wielded a broom on an earlier occasion also.
