After Mulk and Article 15, composer Anurag Saikia reunites with director Anubhav Sinha for Thappad

Anurag Saikia reunites with director Anubhav Sinha for Thappad

Composer Anurag Saikia, who has composed for noted films like Karwaan, Mulk and Article 15 last year, is back with yet another Anubhav Sinha’s hard hitting filappad. The film is based on the burning issue of domestic violence. This is the third association for Anurag after Mulk (2018) and Article 15 (2019).

Talking about the film, Anurag reveals, “Thappad is one of the most different films I have ever composed for as it based on a such a different issue. If you see my career graph, be it Karwaan, Mulk or Article 15, all the films have done exceptionally well. I am so glad to compose music for Thappad since I believed in the story and has a blind faith on Anubhav (Sinha) sir. I am really excited but Thappad has been a challenging film. It has so much variety that I had fun composing for it.”

“My relationship with Anubhav sir is not just of composer and director, he is my guide and mentor. I share all my compositions with him so when I composed Ek Tukda Dhoop without the lyrics, I sent to sir and he met me next day and narrated me the whole story. When Shakeel Azmi came on board, whom I had collaborated with in Mulk and Article 15 earlier, he came up with such beautiful lyrics that everyone was blown away. When I was composing the song, I remember the voice of Raghav whom I knew since before. I would thank Anubhav sir, Bhushan sir for trusting me and giving me Thappad.” he shares about the song Ek Tukda Dhoop.

“Besides Ek Tukda Dhoop, the other two songs Haiyo Rabba and Dancing in the sun will be out soon. I am thrilled that all the songs are really different from each other. I got to work with Suvarna, a brilliant singer who sang Haiyo Rabba. Dancing in the sun is sung by Sharvi Yadav, whom I met in a live programme when she was performing for Parikrama- The Band. I couldn’t think of anyone else to sing this song apart from Sharvi,” Anurag concludes.

While praising the composition Ek Tukda Dhoop, actress Taapsee Pannu shares, “This is the song I used to set my mood before performing most of the critical scenes of the film. It really took my heart away. I was in love with this song even before it was filmed.”

Elated director Anubhav Sinha says, “Ek Tukda Dhoop is one my favourite songs ever from my movies.”

Thappad stars Taapsee Pannu and Pavail Gulati in the lead roles along with Manav Kaul, Dia Mirza and Kumud Mishra in the pivotal roles. The film is slated to release on February 28th, 2020 all over.
