Though Salman Khan and Eid has special reason to celebrate on Box Office for past many years consecutively but Tubelight failed miserably in the box office this Eid. Bollywood couch has already reported the news about distributor demanding refund from Salman Khan as they had to face huge loss for Tubelight.
Bollywood Couch also reported the recent development that been tweeted by Trade analyst Komal Mehta ” “SalmanKhan has agreed to refund monies to distributors to make up for losses in Tubelight. A lovely gesture. That’s being human!”
According to report when Salman Khan had meeting with distributors in his residence in Bandra, his father veteran writer Salim Khan was also present and he agreed to repay the certain amount to distributors.
According to a Mid-Day report, Salim Khan said, “When a distributor suffers a loss, the producer needs to show some responsibility and share the burden. We, too, have done the same thing. We met a few of them and are trying to find a middle ground. We will pay back the distributors.”
Salim Khan also adds that the practice of returning the money to the distributors isn’t new. “We all have to work with each other in the future. So, it’s good that like-minded people come together and make a decision, which acts as a win-win situation for both the makers as well as the distributors.”
In the past Salman Khan starrer all films did wonderful business be it Sultan (2016), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), Kick (2014), Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Bodyguard (2011), which hit screens during Eid but Tubelight failed to impress his fan this year and distributors had to face the burn. Its indeed encouraging that the actor and his family have now agreed to compensate distributors for their losses.
In South Rajinikanth had famously compensated distributors for Lingaa’s (2014) failure at the box office, while in Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan paid distributors back for Dilwale (2015), Asoka (2001) and Paheli (2005).
